Kazakhstan and Germany are set to deepen their economic cooperation following a recent series of discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The talks, which took place in Berlin on September 29, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities across various sectors, including investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.
President Tokayev emphasized the significance of Germany as a strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, highlighting the progress made over the past three decades. A key proposal from Tokayev’s visit was the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This initiative aims to support joint projects and streamline investments between the two nations.
During his visit, Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to discuss potential collaborations in transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. The discussions included the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which is expected to enhance connectivity and trade routes, along with the modernization of railway infrastructure and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.
Both countries are actively exploring opportunities for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan. This collaboration would not only pave the way for increased economic activity but also provide German enterprises with greater access to the broader Central Asian market.
Overall, the meetings underscored a mutual desire to fortify economic ties and capitalize on shared interests, setting the stage for a robust partnership aimed at fostering growth and innovation across both regions.
