Thailand, Cambodia Move to Defuse Border Crisis After Fatal Skirmish

A recent fatal skirmish on the border between Thailand and Cambodia, which claimed the life of a Cambodian soldier, has prompted both nations to agree on a military repositioning. Troops are set to return to their former border posts, a crucial step in defusing the escalating crisis that saw both sides reinforce their presence in the disputed area.
The agreement, confirmed by Cambodian defense officials, reflects a mutual desire to ease the heightened tensions that followed the May 28 incident. This diplomatic breakthrough aligns with previous statements from Thai officials, who had indicated that discussions were underway to restore the border situation to its 2024 arrangement.
