The war on multiple fronts showed no signs of abating on Friday as President Donald Trump accelerated the US campaign against Iran, Israel intensified its operations in Lebanon, and Hezbollah continued its rocket barrage against northern Israeli communities. The simultaneous pressure across several theaters has stretched military resources and emergency services on all sides.
American B-2 stealth bombers carried out some of the most significant strikes of the week, dropping dozens of 2,000-pound penetrating munitions on Iran’s underground ballistic missile sites. The head of US Central Command confirmed the strikes and reported that a large Iranian naval vessel used as a drone platform had been struck and possibly destroyed. Defense Secretary Hegseth confirmed that a surge in American firepower was imminent. Trump, writing on Truth Social, demanded Iran’s unconditional surrender.
Israel’s operations in Lebanon have been sweeping. The military issued the largest evacuation orders in the country’s modern history, ordering more than one million people to leave their homes and targeting Hezbollah’s strongholds across Beirut and the Lebanese south. The Dahiyeh district, transformed from a densely populated neighborhood to a ghost town in a matter of hours, was struck multiple times. The Israeli chief of staff said Israel was entering a new and more aggressive phase and had surprises in store.
Hezbollah did not shrink from the challenge. The group fired rockets at multiple communities in northern Israel throughout the day and deployed anti-tank missiles near the Lebanese border, wounding five Israeli soldiers. The UN peacekeeping mission reported that its Ghanaian battalion headquarters in Lebanon was struck by missiles, critically wounding two soldiers and burning the officers’ mess to the ground. Neither Unifil nor the Ghanaian military specified who was responsible.
Iran continued its regional retaliation, launching missiles and drones at US military bases and energy infrastructure across four Gulf states. Qatar and Saudi Arabia confirmed intercepting attacks on US facilities within their borders. In Bahrain, strikes hit hotels and a residential building. In Kuwait, fresh missile and drone attacks crossed the airspace before air defenses were activated. Iran’s internet access dropped to approximately 1%, limiting information about the conflict’s impact on ordinary Iranians.
