President Tamás Sulyok paid a private visit to southern Slovakia, where he met members of the Hungarian community and honored notable figures of Hungarian heritage. His visit included stops in Komárno and Dunajská Streda, both historically significant towns for Hungarians in the Felvidék region.
In Komárno, President Sulyok and his wife visited the Zichy Palace, where they viewed exhibitions dedicated to renowned novelist Mór Jókai, marking the 200th anniversary of his birth. The president laid flowers at Jókai’s statue, paying tribute to his contributions to Hungarian literature and national history, and later toured the renovated St. Andrew’s Basilica, a landmark of Baroque architecture.
During his visit, Sulyok also met with representatives of local institutions and cultural organizations, reaffirming Hungary’s commitment to supporting its communities abroad.
In Dunajská Streda, the president laid a wreath at the statue of Károly Szladits, a distinguished legal scholar and member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, recognizing his enduring impact on Hungarian legal scholarship.
