Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó held a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov following the recent summit in Alaska, emphasizing Hungary’s support for peace and stability in Central Europe.
Szijjártó reaffirmed that Hungary’s position remains firmly on the side of peace, stressing the importance of achieving a lasting settlement to ongoing conflicts. He noted that history shows global security is stronger when the United States and Russia engage in constructive dialogue.
The minister also voiced hope that efforts to disrupt the peace process initiated at the Alaska summit will not succeed, underlining the significance of continued cooperation between major powers.
