Hungary Applauds Trump for Restoring Strong US Ties After Biden-Era Strains

Hungary has credited former US President Donald Trump with significantly improving Hungarian-American relations, reversing what it called harmful policies implemented under the previous administration. Hungarian officials highlighted three key developments that marked a major turnaround in bilateral ties.
First, Hungary noted the lifting of sanctions that were imposed during the final days of the prior US administration, which it claims were unfounded. Second, the Paks nuclear power plant upgrade—a strategic energy project—was exempted from US sanctions, allowing progress without external interference. Third, Hungary recently signed an agreement to utilize US technology for small modular reactors, strengthening cooperation in the nuclear energy sector.
